Like medicine for the scalp | Braid Rev by Bephor

Honestly, this is the scalp and hair regimen I’ve been looking for. You find yourself rubbing in moisturisers and applying sprays churned out by the big brands, and they do nothing except add to product build-up. How refreshing it is to come across a brand that has invested in what the scalp actually needs rather than just selling products at a mass scale.

WHAT GOT ME

I had applied it in the morning and my scalp was still feeling tingly at 2pm – like when your pores are unclogged after a shampoo and the wind blows through your hair. That feeling of a clean scalp.

HOW I USE IT

I had been wearing a sew-in but took it out because there were parts of my scalp I couldn’t reach and I really wanted to test these products properly. Now, I love the ritual: first the cleanser, then the balm, then the mist. It’s a quick three-step routine.

The No Rinse Braid Rev Scalp Cleansing Toner

Faint citrus, floral and woody notes waft around you after applying, without overpowering. It’s a no-rinse toner made with apple cider vinegar, centella and liquorice root. I applied it along my rows and dabbed off with a cotton wool pad. The apple cider vinegar works to cleanse and balance the scalp’s pH, reducing itchiness and odour. Centella calms an itchy scalp, hydrates and helps repair damaged tissue, and liquorice root strengthens the root and targets the active inflammatory signals that cause itching, burning and redness.

The Braid Rev Scalp Sleeping Oil Balm 

It’s made for night-time use, but I have to admit I applied it in the morning after the toner. It’ll be a night-time step from now on, because I run during the day. I’ve used K-beauty products on my skin for a long time, so I’m always  interested in the ingredients. This balm has forsythia fruit extract, known for its soothing and calming properties, along with coconut oil, shea butter and camellia seed oil, which is lightweight and nutrient-rich. It melted into my scalp like a nourishing butter. Delicious! And I love the slightly herbal scent.

The Braid Rev Oil-Blend Reviving Hair Mist 

Soft floral notes of jasmine, hints of melon and grapefruit and a base of wood, musk and vanilla – so gently and pleasantly fragrant. It hydrates first, then seals with oil, reducing cuticle damage and helping the hair to retain its length.

Wig lines, braids or a sew-in, the scalp underneath still needs looking after and this is how I’ll be doing it.
